US President-elect Joe Biden held outgoing President Donald Trump responsible for yesterday's riots at the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.
Reuters quoted Biden as saying in a speech today that the storming of the Capitol is one of the most mysterious events in the country's history and as a result of Trump's attack on democracy, adding that those who stormed Congress "are not protesters, but rather internal insurgents and terrorists."
Biden accused Trump of using crowds of his supporters to silence American voters, stressing that "it is not above the law" and that it is necessary to "restore confidence in the rule of law" in the United States.
Trump's supporters stormed the Congress building yesterday at his instigation, which led to the killing of four people and the arrest of 52 others, and despite this, the US Congress today officially approved the election of Biden as President of the United States of America, paving the way for his assumption of the presidency on the 20th of this month.
