The federal and state governments have decided to extend the corona lockdown until at least the end of January.

These rules now apply to Lower Saxony.

  • The federal and state governments have extended the

    lockdown

    due to the tense

    Corona *

    infection situation

    .

  • The partially tightened

    corona measures

apply from Saturday at the earliest.

  • The federal and state governments plan to restrict freedom of movement in hotspots, Weil sees this as critical.

Göttingen - In order

to reduce

the number of

new corona infections

, the federal and state governments decided on Tuesday (January 6th, 2021) to extend the

lockdown

.

The aim is

to bring

the

7-day incidence

to below 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

Across Germany, the incidence value is almost 130 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (as of January 6, 2021).

The stricter

corona rules

come

into effect

in

Lower Saxony

on Saturday (January 9th, 2021) at the earliest.

A government spokeswoman announced on Wednesday in Hanover.

The resolutions of the federal and state governments are currently being transposed into state law and can deviate from the national rules.

According to the federal-state decision: These corona rules apply in Lower Saxony

The new

corona rules adopted

by the federal and state governments

include tightening the

contact restrictions

.

"

Lower Saxony

will also extend the shutdown until January 31, 2021 and also tighten the requirements for direct contact between people beyond one's own household," said Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil on Tuesday.

"How do we continue in our fight against Corona now?

The answer is: we have to continue the lockdown and we have to tighten it.

This is not good news, but we have compelling reasons for it. ”Https://t.co/zfiIUVva9j

Households should only be allowed to meet with one other person from another household.

In December, the federal and state governments initially limited contacts to five people from two households.

In particular in

corona hotspots,

i.e. regions with more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, there should be additional measures according to the federal-state resolution.

The resolution provides for a restriction of freedom of movement to a radius of 15 kilometers if there is a valid reason.

However, Weil struggles with this 15-kilometer rule - and he is not the only country manager.

This is primarily intended to limit day tourism.

In

Lower Saxony

there is currently no district with a

7-day incidence

over 200. One must assume that the actual incidence is significantly higher than the statistical statement, said Stephan Weil.

"There is no reason to feel safe, on the contrary."

7-day incidence Lower Saxony (January 6, 2021)

91.8 new infections per 100,000 population

7-day incidence Göttingen (January 6, 2021)

82.2 new infections per 100,000 population

7-day incidence Northeim (01/06/2021)

43.1 new infections per 100,000 population

7-day incidence Hanover (January 6, 2021)

122.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants

Corona rules in Lower Saxony: Weil sees the restriction to a 15-meter radius as critical

Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Weil

sees the

restriction of freedom of movement in

Corona hotspots

as

critical.

A separate justification for proportionality is necessary, as the Higher Administrative Court has already warned about other restrictions, said Weil.

"For us, this is part of the test program to determine whether and when the regulation is applied, preferably not at all."

In schools and daycare centers in

Lower Saxony

, a staggered regulation will apply from Monday (11.01.2021) depending on the grade.

Culture Minister Grant Hendrik Tonne (SPD) presented the

details of the new Corona rules for

schools and daycare centers

on Wednesday (January 6th, 2021).

For almost all grades there are no face-to-face classes until the end of January, exceptions are made for daycare centers, elementary schools, as well as high school and final classes.

Emergency care is to be guaranteed for children in grades 1 to 6.

Corona in Lower Saxony: Many shops remain closed

According to the federal-state decision, most shops, as well as restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, discos, pubs and similar facilities should remain closed until January 31, 2021.

The following are excluded:

  • Food retail

  • Weekly markets

  • Pick-up and delivery services

  • Beverage markets

  • Health food stores

  • Pharmacies

  • Gas stations

The

Corona closure

continues to affect hairdressers, cosmetic studios, massage practices, tattoo studios and similar businesses.

Necessary treatments are the exception.

Accordingly, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and logotherapy as well as medical foot care may continue to be offered.

In addition, the obligation to wear a face-to-face mask in closed areas that are publicly accessible and to keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters on public transport applies, the Federal Government points out.
