How France is accelerating the pace of vaccination

DECRYPTION - After nursing home residents and staff and caregivers over 50, those over 75 will be able to be vaccinated from January 18.


Urged to catch up with the delay in vaccination compared to its European neighbors, the government is correcting the situation.

The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced Thursday evening at a press conference with Prime Minister Jean Castex that 78 million doses would be delivered before the summer, subject to validation by the health authorities of new vaccines.

For the two already authorized at European level, the delivery schedule has been specified.

While Pfizer is currently delivering 500,000 doses per week, that figure could double in March.

Moderna will provide its first 50,000 doses on Monday, then another 50,000 in January.

The rise will be gradual: 500,000 in February, 1 million per month in March and April, and finally 2 million in May and June.
