The people of Bruck have long been dreaming of a traffic-calmed city center.

The Greens want to push the topic again.

In an application to the city council, the parliamentary group demands that the city administration be entrusted with an overall concept.

And makes suggestions straight away.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- The administration is to provide measures for traffic control and traffic calming in the city center.

Data from the preliminary investigation for the transport development plan (VEP) should serve as the basis.

The city council should then vote on a sustainable transport model.

This is how Thomas Brückner, who is also the spokesman for the Verkehrsforum, puts it in his proposal.

The city council has been engaged in discussions and studies on the subject of traffic in the city center for almost 20 years.

Current data from traffic counts would now be available - a great opportunity to implement something promptly.

According to Brückner, the results of the VEP must lead to a sustainable transport model.

The area from Puchermühlstrasse to inner Dachauer Strasse and from Amperbrücke to the Marthabräu- / Augsburger Strasse junction should be taken into account.

The goal: Motorized traffic should decrease and run more smoothly.

Pedestrians and cyclists should be given more safety and public transport should become more attractive and faster.

In addition, people want more quality of stay and attractiveness in the shopping streets.

The Greens have worked out the following priorities:

Traffic-calmed business area

Traffic calming is planned in the VEP in parts of Schöngeisinger Strasse and Pucher Strasse.

A so-called traffic-calmed business area would be created at a speed of 20 km / h.

A shared space - i.e. all road users share the area - makes the area unattractive for drivers.

"Tempo 20 also has a positive effect on the safety of cycling, as the speed differences compared to car traffic almost cancel each other out," writes Brückner.

The risk of accidents decreases.

You just have to be careful that when the inner Dachauer Straße is included, motorized traffic is not pushed into the residential areas.

Cattle marketplace as a new center

The Viehmarktplatz is to become the new center of the old town if the Greens have their way.

With a beautifully designed square, playground and areas for shopping, markets and festivals.

Cars should disappear in an underground car park that can only be accessed via Pucher Straße - if it is not possible to connect via the AEZ garage.

"The axis Brezn-Gasserl - Viehmarktplatz - Ludwigstrasse should be reserved for pedestrians and cyclists," Brückner demands.

One-way streets to calm down

The inner Maisacher Strasse, Schöngeisinger Strasse and Pucher Strasse are to become one-way streets.

While the Maisacher Strasse can still be driven out of town, the cars are to roll into the center via Kapellenstrasse.

This would require separate left-turn lanes on Augsburger- / Marthabräustraße.

Another advantage for Brückner: The intersection Augsburger- / Maisacher Straße can be redesigned.

From Ledererstraße on, Schöngeisinger Straße could only be drivable towards the city center.

In the other direction, drivers would have to use Pucher Strasse as far as Aumiller or Jakob-Groß-Strasse.

This would distribute the traffic flows evenly, relieving the load on Schöngeisinger Strasse.

The goal is a big concept

The Greens do not want to look at the rescheduling on Augsburger Strasse alone.

Here you have to keep an eye on the entire B 2 federal highway from the junction on Marthabräustraße to Schöngeisinger Straße.

In addition, the Transport Forum has proposed a series of roundabouts, which should allow the traffic to flow more than is the case with traffic lights.

All of this should be checked in an integrated traffic model for the entire city center.
