US Transportation Secretary Ellen Chow today announced her resignation from her post after the events of the storming of the Capitol by supporters of outgoing US President Donald Trump.
Reuters quoted Chow, who is the wife of the Republican majority leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, as saying that her resignation will be effective as of next Monday, adding that "the attack that took place yesterday left her so disturbed in a way that she could not stand idly by."
Zhao's resignation came after four senior White House aides and a number of advisers announced their resignation from their posts earlier today, amid expectations of a series of resignations among US officials.
