The Trump administration's four-year drama drained yesterday (Wednesday) of a meeting between two Americans on Capitol Hill.
Everyone who came to the compound, whether he was with the burglars and looters or came to demonstrate legitimately, wanted to make the voice of forgotten America (and there were those on the far left who also wanted to make their voices heard).
The battle for the American psyche erupted at the climactic moment for Trump supporters - as both houses of Congress began counting the electorate votes cast in December.
The policewoman who tried to control the situation could not help but share with me how she felt and asked how I was feeling.
"We in the world love America and look at it today as children who have many parents," I said.
The policewoman called her colleagues and told them how true it was.
This is a sad day for America, because there is a party that thinks they stole its election and another party is disrespecting the good people who came to Washington yesterday.
Despite the exceptional cases and even the shooting whose circumstances are unclear, there was no violence that got out of hand - compared to the situation itself which certainly is.

Christian evangelists were also waving Israeli flags.
There was chaos in the compound itself, but outside the compound was the atmosphere of Independence Day celebrations.
I met two Texans who came from the Lonely Star State just to make their voices heard for the 45th President, who made them feel at home in alienated Washington for four years.
One said he was not in favor of the riots, the other said there was really no answer, because in the end everything was according to God's plan, but he insisted that if the left and the media had not ignored half the people, it would not have happened.

"Why give discounts to the 'Considered Black Life' movement?"
He asked, and in fact brought up what many on the right were wondering in May: Why did the media side with those who set America on fire last May during the riots surrounding the death of George Floyd by the police?
The two Texans incidentally insisted that on January 20 for them the president will be Donald Trump, even if Biden is actually sworn in as president as expected.
Either way, the shock that befell Washington resonates well in the streets.
It is impossible not to feel lonely in the deserted streets of this gray capital - which was already under traffic restrictions because of the corona.
And now (as of Wednesday-Thursday night) she was under a real siege, after the mayor imposed a night curfew.

Even in this crisis, where for the first time in several centuries the invasion of the Holy of Holies of American democracy (and probably the first time not by foreign forces), there is a bright spot: America is still standing on its own two feet.
Even some of the rioters took selfies with the policemen who tried to evacuate them.
In the end politics did not destroy human relations, which is also encouraging, although some deaths were later reported.
It should be remembered that there was no chaos on the streets of the capital other than the Capitol Hill compound, the restaurants were open, and life tried to maintain a "riot routine and a corona routine."
This is a sad day for America, but it is proving its strength.
