Trump the rebel
A few days before Christmas,
Donald Trump called on
his followers via Twitter to come to Washington DC for the “big protest” on January 6th: “Be there, will be wild!” He wrote.

And it got wild.
A
troop of fanatical Trump fans storms the Capitol
, the seat of the US Congress, which is supposed to officially and definitively certify Joe Biden's election victory that day.
But the MPs and senators have to flee, conditions are anarchic, tear gas is wafting through the corridors and halls, freaked QAnon conspiracy believers occupy the Senate Chamber, others break into the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, pose for photos with their feet on the Desk, security guards barricade themselves with guns drawn, shots are fired somewhere, a woman later dies of her serious injuries, three other people die outside.
Journalists are attacked and chased away, their equipment destroyed.
The scenes are incredible.
Watch the video here to see how Washington correspondent Roland Nelles experienced the events.
Here you can read a report by Roland Nelles about the situation like from a civil war.
Trump lets the intruders know via a video message: “We love you.
You're very special. "Later he tweeted:" Remember this day forever! "
Indeed, America will remember that day forever.
The disturbing images will burn themselves into the collective memory of the United States - as a day of shame
, on which the institutions of the second oldest democracy in the world were attacked and despised by an angry mob.
Sent off and spurred on by the still incumbent president, who first watched the self-ignited fire on television.

Actions follow words.
Trump unleashed violence, he spread lies and sown hatred for four years, and
now, shortly before his political end, he has reaped the harvest again - for a shameful finale.
Regardless of whether he realizes or not that he is responsible, the rebel Trump liked what he saw.
Even in the hour of chaos he continued to ignite, repeating his trumped-up
election fraud
allegations
.
Social media deleted his posts, and Twitter finally blocked the president's account for twelve hours - it's a drastic step, but it's far too late.
The
police in Washington
also reacted late
.
That she was obviously not prepared is unforgivable.
The omens were clear and unambiguous, a violent escalation at least not ruled out.
Nevertheless, the rioters were not only able to get into Congress, but also apparently to be quite relaxed about their mischief.
Only after about four hours did the security forces report that the Capitol was safe again.
Videos can be seen how numerous intruders leave the building completely unmolested - that will also have to be dealt with.
In the midst of the chaos in Washington, the news broke that
the second Democratic candidate had also won the run-off election
in the US state of Georgia
against the Republican incumbent.
The success secures the Democrats a de facto majority in the Senate and seals
the complete defeat of Trump
.
A ray of hope in gloomy hours for American democracy.
But is that also linked to the hope for a better America?
The symbolic occupation of the Capitol has shown what Trump's foot troops are capable of when he sends them out.
They are not looking for reconciliation, even if their president is soon no longer in office.
Some Republicans who loyally stood by the president's side until the last minute may now turn away.
Proud boys, QAnon supporters and other extremists, on the other hand, will feel encouraged after January 6th to continue Trump's legacy.

There is a great fear that this will not mark the end of a bad time, but rather the beginning of something even worse.
Anyone who has found the warnings of civil war to be exaggerated will start thinking after this day.
Joe Biden
found clear, very American words on Wednesday, even before the president had even responded.
He pledged
the restoration of democracy, decency, honor and respect
over the next four years.
But pathos will not be enough to reunite the USA.
One can only wish Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris the best of strength and luck in trying to bring the country back to rest.
