Parliamentarians on Thursday urged members of Donald Trump's cabinet and White House officials to remain in their posts to allow a stable end of term, after the announcement of several resignations in protest against the attack on Congress by supporters of the outgoing president.

"To those of you who think you have to leave your post to send a message, I call on you not to do so,"

said Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of Donald Trump, suggesting that they offered a guarantee of stability alongside the president in the last days of his mandate.

The Republican will hand over power to Joe Biden on January 20.

He quoted several White House officials whose US media say they would consider leaving their posts: Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Presidential National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien and House attorney. Blanche Pat Cipollone.
