- Gabi Sternkopf has been running a cosmetic studio in Geretsried for almost 26 years.
They were particularly hard hit by the effects of the corona pandemic.
In 2020, the 53-year-old was not allowed to work for weeks and is still not allowed to.
The state transferred emergency aid to the Geretsriederin.
But Sternkopf paid them back.
She revealed the reason for this to editor Doris Schmid in an interview.
Ms. Sternkopf, how did you experience the first lockdown in March 2020?
Gabi Sternkopf:
I saw him very relaxed.
I have been promised that, as a solo self-employed person, I will be able to receive immediate aid of 5000 euros.
I got the money too.
That was a good feeling.

Gabi Sternkopf:
After about seven weeks, the first lockdown was over and I was allowed to work again.
I was of course very happy about it.
But at the end of November I transferred the 5000 euros back.
For what reason?
Gabi Sternkopf:
My tax advisor advised me to do this.
I worked a lot in May and June and managed to recoup the minus.
Have you worked too much?
Gabi Sternkopf:
Yes, you could say that.
Or I don't have high enough expenses, such as the cost of a leased company car.
I don't need it because I ride my bike to work.
In my opinion, the assessment base should not have been used for a short period of time, but for the whole year.
Are you disappointed?
Gabi Sternkopf:
Politicians first make promises, and then the big end comes.
You save money and see that you get a green light and then you will be punished.
Did your tax advisor give you the wrong advice?
Gabi Sternkopf:
During the first lockdown, a lot was still uncertain.
You couldn't predict ahead of time whether you could keep the money.
Did you still have the money?
Gabi Sternkopf:
The second lockdown came at the beginning of November, so I was happy about the money.
So no, I didn't have it anymore.
I used it to cover running costs and bought goods for the Christmas business.
In addition, there was a four-digit unscheduled expense for the underground car park in the house.
How does it look now in the second lockdown?
Gabi Sternkopf:
I applied for immediate aid and a partial amount has been received.
Do you have existential fears?
Gabi Sternkopf:
Certainly without my husband by my side.
But I am already looking forward to the new year with mixed feelings.
The customers were reluctant before Christmas, I sold a third fewer vouchers than usual.
I feel that.
But I am grateful that I am healthy.
I enjoy my grandchild.
And I've never had such a quiet Christmas as 2020.
