Yesterday (7th) correctional officers of Tai Lam Correctional Institution stopped a male person in custody from assaulting a staff member. The incident occurred at 6:50 pm yesterday when a 72-year-old male prisoner suddenly lost control of his emotions on his way back to the cell and attacked one with his hands.

Yesterday (7th) correctional officers of Tai Lam Correctional Institution stopped a male person in custody from assaulting a staff member.

The incident occurred at 6:50 pm yesterday when a 72-year-old male prisoner suddenly lost control of his emotions on his way back to the cell and attacked a correctional officer with his hand.

Correctional officers on the scene immediately stopped the assailant.

In the incident, the attacked correctional officer had chest discomfort and did not need to be sent to the hospital after examination by the hospital doctor. The assailant was not injured.

The incident has been referred to the police for investigation, and the assailant was sentenced to prison for the crime of causing bodily harm in the assault.
