Former Democratic Party legislator Hu Zhiwei was suspected of inciting others to participate in the July 1 parade. He suspected that he failed to hand over all travel documents as required by the court. After Hu was remanded overnight, the case was reopened in West Kowloon Court today (8th). It is reported that Hu did not surrender the relevant passport because he understood the problem.
After hearing the statements of the prosecution and defense and after consideration, the chief magistrate, Luo Quan, decided to cancel Hu's bail, and his beard continued to be under the custody of the Correctional Services Department.
The case will be heard again next month.
Hu Zhiwei (58) was charged with 3 counts of "inciting others to knowingly participate in an unauthorized assembly", "holding or organizing an unauthorized assembly" and "knowingly participating in an unauthorized assembly" last month in connection with the July 1 parade last month .
He appeared in court on the same day and was granted bail by the court. One of the conditions was to hand over all travel documents.

Hu was recently arrested on suspicion of violating the National Security Law.
It is understood that when he was asked by the police officer to surrender his travel documents, he said that he had handed over all the documents when he was presented to the court last month, and then the police took him back to the police station for questioning again. Hu revealed that he still had a BNO passport at home; Hu Qihou He explained that he only brought the Homecoming Permit and the Special Zone Passport to court on that day. Due to problems of understanding, only the two documents were handed over. The case was postponed until February 8.
In the July 1st demonstration case, in addition to Hu Zhiwei, there were also 7 pan-democrats charged, namely Chen Haohuan, Zeng Jiancheng, Xu Zijian, Chen Rongtai, Zhu Kaidi, Liang Guoxiong and Deng Shili.
Hu involved in three charges alleging that he illegally incited an unknown person to participate in an unauthorized assembly outside the Court of Final Appeal on June 30 last year; on July 1 last year, he was on Hennessy Road and Tonnochy Road in Wan Chai. Holding or organizing an unapproved assembly; and knowingly participating in an unapproved assembly on the same day and in the same place with other unknown persons.
