Police will compensate the protesters in front of the Farkash family home in Caesarea, after confiscating a portable speaker and microphone.
Hadera Magistrate's Court Judge Aharon Kaplan criticized the police yesterday (Thursday) and ruled that the confiscation of the equipment was illegal.
The judge further noted: "Under the freedom of expression and demonstration, the abominable things that some of those present at the venue have uttered towards an entire family - and in fact precisely in such situations, freedom of expression will be examined."
The demonstration took place a few weeks ago in front of the bereaved family home in Caesarea.
Right-wing protesters protested in front of the family home, claiming that they allowed left-wing protesters to enter the roof of their house and demonstrate near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's house.
At the same event, police forces from the Hadera station who arrived at the scene confiscated the demonstrators' equipment. They in turn approached the court through attorney Zehava Gur for the police to return the confiscated equipment. The police did not respond to the protesters' request submitted to the court, despite the judge's demand. The protesters attached a response given to them by the police. Which states that the Israeli police seized the equipment legally. Why legally? I will not know. "The judge ruled that the police will compensate the protesters in the amount of NIS 1,200.
