North Korea is already beginning to test the determination of incoming US President Joe Biden ahead of his inauguration in about ten days.

Over the weekend, Pyongyang dictator Kim Jong Un declared the United States his country's 'biggest enemy', and even spoke defiantly about efforts to reduce nuclear tensions with the rest of the world in the demilitarization talks it has begun with President Trump in recent years.

Kim said North Korea would expand its nuclear arsenal, and even stressed that more advanced missiles would be developed with ranges of about 15,000 kilometers, that is, even those that could reach the United States.

He also called for the development of missiles that could be fired from both the sea and the ground, noting that he had ordered the construction of miniature and tactical nuclear missiles, military spy satellites, supersonic aircraft and a nuclear submarine.

At the same time, he assured that there is no intention to use nuclear weapons unless the state is attacked.

"Reality obliges us to strengthen our defensive capabilities without a single moment of hesitation, in order to deter US nuclear threats against us and bring peace and prosperity to the Korean Peninsula," Kim said at a ruling party conference. He expressed pessimism about the possibility that relations with the US "B will change for the better regardless of who is in power, since, he says, both parties in Washington have a 'hostile attitude' towards their country.

It should be noted that he and outgoing US President Donald Trump were on good terms on a personal level, and the two even held several historic summit meetings, but US-North Korea talks ran aground following difficult disagreements over Pyongyang's disarmament and the scope of oversight it would allow.

Biden has already said he will not follow Trump's path, but rather set preconditions for a meeting with Kim, and promised to promote a "policy of principles" vis-à-vis Pyongyang.

He even called Kim a "bully and a dictator."
