They were the last two protagonists of the “new Balkany affair” still heard by the police.

Vanessa Balkany, the daughter of the former mayor of Levallois-Perret, and her ex-husband Dan Oiknine were referred to the Nanterre public prosecutor's office at the end of their police custody as part of an investigation entrusted to the Office central for the fight against corruption and financial and fiscal offenses (OCLCIFF).

Dan Oiknin was indicted for abuse of corporate assets, aggravated money laundering, concealment of misuse of corporate assets, illegal taking of interest and embezzlement of public funds.

He was placed under judicial supervision.

Vanessa Balkany was placed under the status of assisted witness.

They are among the players in a case that has been under investigation for a little over a year in Nanterre.

This concerns the provision by Semarelp (a semi-public company 80% owned by the city of Levallois-Perret) of a business center normally disused to a company headed by Dan Oiknine.

The said company would have sublet these abandoned premises to various companies for several million euros between 2008 and 2017.

Two other indictments in this case

The investigation file also relates to suspicious financial movements between Semarelp and the company of the ex-son-in-law of Patrick Balkany on the one hand, and between this company and those of Vanessa Balkany on the other hand.

Doubtful flows that took place between 2012 and 2014 and reported to the Nanterre public prosecutor's office in 2015 by Tracfin, the Bercy anti-money laundering unit.

Two other characters in this case have already been indicted at the end of their police custody Wednesday and Thursday: Jean-Pierre Aubry, the ex-right arm of Patrick Balkany and Jean-Marc Smadja, cousin of Isabelle Balkany .

The first headed Semarelp from 2008 to 2014, the second from 2001 to 2008. They were both indicted for “abuse of corporate assets, embezzlement of public assets and illegal taking of interest”.

As for Patrick Balkany, he also heard from the police on Wednesday.

His police custody was interrupted due to his state of health.

It can resume in the days or weeks to come.
