The Russian Embassy to the United States announced today that no information is available about the presence of Russian citizens among those detained or injured as a result of the violence that took place last Wednesday at the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.
"The embassy is closely monitoring the situation in the capital and has requested the US State Department to inform it in the event that there are Russians among the detainees or those injured as a result of the violence witnessed by the Capitol building in Washington," the Russian diplomatic mission stated in a statement on its website on Facebook and reported by Sputnik.
According to the statement of the diplomatic mission, "there are still no such incidents, but if necessary, consular and legal assistance will be provided to citizens."
Hundreds of supporters of outgoing US President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol building last Wednesday and rioted inside it before the two congressional chambers held a joint session to certify the results of the presidential elections, killing 4 people in addition to the death of a policeman later of his wounds and dozens of arrests.
