In the vaccination centers in the district, operations officially started over the weekend.

We accompanied a 90-year-old to his appointment.

His conclusion: "It was harmless!"

Oberhaching

- Anton Schöllhorn is sitting quietly on the chair in one of the rooms in the Oberhaching vaccination center.

No trace of excitement.

The 90-year-old wears a white shirt with black suit trousers, he has already cleared his left shoulder.

He is ready.

Doctor Fabio Rebay von Ehrenwiesen, who is sitting across from him, signals to the staff in the next room by pushing a button that it can start.

A little later, Antonia Sachsenbacher comes in through the door.

The medical student is holding in her hand what many are waiting so eagerly for at the moment: a syringe with the corona vaccine.

She quickly disinfects Schöllhorn's upper arm, sets the needle, a friendly smile under the mask, a short spade, that's it.

The 90-year-old is amazed: “How?

Already over?"

It continues at this pace.

Schöllhorn is one of 70 seniors who will be vaccinated this Saturday in Oberhaching.

It is the long awaited start in the vaccination centers in the Munich district.

After the mobile teams have left the nursing homes with the first batch of vaccinations, it is now the turn of the over 80 seniors.

Almost all of the patients were over-punctual

The dates are assigned every quarter of an hour on this Saturday.

And if you have got hold of one, you certainly don't want to miss it.

Almost all of them are over-punctual.

"They shouldn't wait for me and I've waited long enough for the vaccine," says Maria Wurzer (82) from Siegertsbrunn.

Anton Schöllhorn, who came to Oberhaching from Grünwald with his wife Elisabeth (89) and daughter, is punctually at the vaccination center at 10 a.m.

A security employee greets you at the entrance, who compares everyone who arrives with a list of names before the fever test.

The device can display a maximum of 38.5 degrees.

Anyone who is over it will not be vaccinated and must see a family doctor.

The processes are well established.

"We trained for a week and ran through all the situations, for example if the visitors had trouble hearing or seeing," explains Stefan Füger, head of the vaccination center operated by Johanniter.

For half a year they have rented two floors in the rooms of a former tax office.

Three doctors and around 20 employees are on site on the first day of work, record data, show the way to the room where the educational film is running, and accompany the elderly to the doctor's room for a consultation.

Anton Schöllhorn is also sitting there around 10:30.

He and his wife are well prepared, they have already filled in all the necessary forms and read the information sheets.

Nevertheless, doctor Fabio Rebay von Ehrenwiesen (26) takes the time to review the documents in detail again for an exact anamnesis, but also to point out possible side effects.

"A comprehensive explanation is important to me," explains the doctor.

He points out to Schöllhorn that full vaccination protection is only achieved after the second vaccination in three weeks and a further week.

Schöllhorn is glad that his daughter organized the early appointment for him over the phone and made sure that the parents have all the necessary documents with them.

“She also urged us to be there quickly.

We could have managed it ourselves somehow, but my wife and I are of course really excited, ”says Schöllhorn.

At the end of the educational talk nothing of this can be noticed.

Shortly after him, his wife also had the vaccination.

They both now have a corresponding entry and the sticker of the vaccination batch in the vaccination card.

After waiting 20 minutes in the next room to see if they show any negative reactions, they can go home.

“Nothing is reddened at the puncture and the arm doesn't hurt,” says Schöllhorn.

"It was harmless."

The vaccination appointment for the Schöllhorns is as the head of the department Füger imagines: “As little stress and strain as possible, especially for the elderly.” He is satisfied after the first day.

It is also okay that only 70 cans are initially available.

"We see this as a warm-up phase, it is better to start slowly and do everything right." Because caution is advised.

“Nothing should break,” emphasizes Füger.

"The vaccine is far too valuable for that."

The fact that security staff guard the refrigerator in which the serum is stored around the clock shows how valuable it is.

The police also regularly drive past the vaccination center on Kolpingring.

Outsiders cannot see the refrigerator.

However, Füger assures that there is enough space in it so that there are no bottlenecks even with a maximum utilization of 350 vaccinations per day.
