The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Lebanese MP Gebran Bassil, affirmed that the strong relationship with Syria is a national interest of Lebanon.
Bassil said in a speech today that "the strong and solid relationship between Lebanon and Syria is in the interest of Lebanon in the economic, financial and social fields. It also serves Lebanon politically and at the level of supporting the Lebanese army."
Bassil pointed out that the Lebanese are for real, just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the region based on restoring rights and “there will be no peace if the Palestinian people do not establish their state and return the refugees to their land.”
He pointed out that what is presented to Lebanon represents "surrender, not peace, and it is a recipe for internal war, disintegration and dissolution."
Bassil clarified that the blockade imposed on Lebanon now is a pressure card to concede the plans put forward regarding normalization with the Israeli entity without restoring rights and without protecting our resources and wealth.
