Africa has crossed the 3 million mark of Coronavirus cases, including 72,000 deaths.
The Associated Press quoted the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as saying that South Africa alone has recorded more than 1.2 million HIV infections and 32.824 deaths, which constitutes more than 30 percent of the cases recorded in the African continent, which includes 54 countries and is home to 1.3 billion people.
Recently, a new strain of Corona virus, more contagious and faster spreading, was discovered in South Africa, amid health experts' expectations of an increasing number of "Covid 19" cases.
The average number of daily new infections in South Africa for seven days during the past two weeks has increased from 19.86 per 100,000 people to 30.18 cases per 100,000, according to data from Johns Hopkins University of America.
