● How was the conflict reactivated?
The reactivation of tensions revolves above all around the presidential election of December 27 and therefore access to power in the Central African Republic (CAR).
The ballot saw President Faustin-Archange Touadéra reelected in the first round, but this result was strongly contested by both the political opposition and the armed groups.
In mid-December, the latter had indeed created a new movement, the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC), intended to prevent the holding of the vote and to overthrow power, in vain.
The CPC seems linked to the former head of state François Bozizé, whose presidential candidacy had been rejected.
In fact, it acts for much more selfish motives, as shown by its strange heterogeneity.
