The chairman of Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid, said today (Sunday) that Yesh Atid should head the Central Bloc and lead the unions and connections, in light of the large number of parties running in the next elections. "I am very much in favor of unions.

We are the largest party in the bloc.

"Everyone needs to join us and increase even more," Lapid said in a zoom conversation with political reporters. He added that "there is great danger in the party fragments and splits - it only serves Netanyahu and the far right."

He said, "In the last 2 polls I saw we were the party. The second largest, and the second largest party in the bloc is about a third of us, so I think we should lead.

Any connection that doubles in power we will happily go to.

There is a future that is ready to have a good and fair discussion with anyone who wants to work with us and become a power multiplier. "

Lapid referred to Moshe Ya'alon's decision to leave the partnership with him to run independently under the leadership of the Telam Party.

"We said goodbye in friendship, at least on my part there is affection and appreciation for the man, his past and the value decisions he made."

He said, "Political life is like this, people come and go - the core of having a future remains with us."

Did not rule out a connection with the Israeli party led by Ron Huldai.

Lapid did not rule out a renewed future connection with Ya'alon, and also referred to a possible connection with the Israeli party headed by Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai and said that he was "on good terms" with Huldai and with Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn.

"We know how to talk, there are conversations with everyone, but early," he said.

Lapid said he was in contact and talks with the leaders of the other parties but declined to elaborate.

He estimated that the connections in the center-left bloc would not take place before the closing of the lists on February 4.

Lapid referred to the fact that Huldai is not resigning from the Tel Aviv municipality in the meantime: "When we established Yesh Atid, Yael German resigned from the Herzliya municipality. A mayor, and certainly a mayor during Corona, is full-time. "I think it is not true that he remains the mayor of Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv. Not only does the city deserve a full-time mayor, but also national politics and the liberal camp, full-time party leaders. Hopefully he is reconsidering it these days."

Decided this weekend on an independent run.

At the end of the week, Ya'alon decided to say goodbye to Mish Atid and run independently in his party.

In recent weeks, Ya'alon and Lapid have held talks on continued cooperation in the upcoming elections, but have not been able to reach agreements.

Lapid offered Ya'alon a place at the top of Yesh Atid but demanded that he give up the Telam party and fully integrate into his party; Ya'alon refused to give up his independence and in recent days decided to run alone.

Today Ya'alon announced a number of new members to his party, including Outgoing Public Health Physicians Association Prof. Hagai Levin, a protest activist against Prime Minister Gonen Ben Yitzhak, and Adv. Ayman Aboriya, a resident of Sakhnin, who will be an Arab-Muslim candidate on the party list.
