Japanese media sources reported that a person died and a woman and a man were injured in their car, while the Western Japan Railway Company suspended some services between Tokyo and Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture due to the accumulation of snow on the Hokuriku Shinkansen express train line.
In addition, more than 1000 cars were stranded in the middle of the archipelago, with heavy snowfall continuing in large areas, forcing some provinces to request the assistance of the Ground Self-Defense Forces in rescue operations.
