BRK managing director Albert Söhl took stock of the first weekend at the Freising vaccination center: Over 200 people were vaccinated

Freising

- "It went very well." BRK managing director Albert Söhl drew a positive balance of the first vaccination day in the vaccination center of the Freising district.

108 people of the highest priority level (over 80 years) were vaccinated on Saturday by the employees of the BRK Freising and the Johanniter-Unfallhilfe Allershausen, another 65 senior citizens received the vaccine against the corona virus from the mobile team.

Around 100 people willing to vaccinate were on site on Sunday.

Full commitment

Twelve employees were working in the vaccination center in the former Stein barracks, five in the mobile team, reported Söhl.

to vaccinate residents in facilities of the Lebenshilfe and the Vitalis nursing home in Marzling.

In the old people's and nursing homes, BRK and Johanniter will also soon start the second round of vaccinations, as the vaccine has to be administered again for a successful immunization.

The sequence

The procedure planned in the vaccination center worked well on the whole.

Already in the early morning there was a relative rush in front of the vaccination center: The visitors, however, kept large distances and were already wearing masks outside.

The fact that there were queues at all was not due to the fact that the consultation with the doctor takes a long time.

The procedure in the vaccination center was well organized and, according to BRK district manager Albert Söhl, the emergency services were "on time" with their work.

The queue outside had a different background.

"Many people come to their appointment a quarter of an hour early," says Söhl.

Those wishing to be vaccinated are therefore urged to come to the vaccination center as punctually as possible.

The readjustment

Of course, you still have to readjust something.

For example, the doctor's discussions before the vaccination, in which previous illnesses are clarified with the visitors, did not last four to five minutes as planned, but took an average of eight minutes.

And the visitors' stay after the vaccination sometimes lasted half an hour, because the patient was taking blood-thinning agents and had to be observed for longer.

However, Söhl emphasized that there were no vaccine reactions on Saturday.

Increased need for information

The fact that the need for clarification was increased due to the clientele of over 80-year-olds with their previous illnesses led to the fact that the waiting rooms were too small at times.

But that will still be fixed, stressed Söhl.

Because changing rooms, lounges and offices will soon move to the first floor of the wing in the former staff building, so that there will be more space on the ground floor, the actual vaccination center.

Important: Everyone who registered for the vaccination on Saturday actually wanted to be vaccinated.

However, one or the other visitor had to be sent home after the doctor's consultation because the allergies were too strong.

Not so Helga and Heinz Pfingstgraef from Moosburg.

"We are happy that we were so early," said Heiz Pfingstgraef (81).

He had already observed the district office's website day after day in advance and reported immediately when the corresponding age category was called up to register.

In the beginning you had to wait outside because there was a lot of rush, but you gladly accepted that.

The vaccination is a matter of course for him and his wife, who have been married for 58 years, as he said: “You long for normal life.

We all have to contribute to this in the district. ”He therefore hopes that as many as possible in the district will take part in the vaccination.

Otherwise you will never get this dangerous virus under control.

The duration

On Sunday the vaccination center continued at nine o'clock.

According to Söhl, around 200 people can be vaccinated every day.

The mobile teams that are currently still in use for the nursing homes could then also work in the vaccination center.

The existing number of vaccination doses is precisely sufficient and timed until the next delivery.

Important, according to Söhl: If vaccination doses are left over, those willing to vaccinate from the group of the highest priority would be notified quickly by telephone and invited to an early vaccination.

Of course: Provided that the Biontech vaccine is still used as the only vaccine, Söhl does not expect that the group of people who would be next and enjoy a high priority will be vaccinated before April.

Reason: There are over 10,000 inhabitants in the Freising district who are 80 years of age and older and therefore enjoy the highest priority.

With 200 vaccinations per day - and every person wishing to vaccinate has to be vaccinated twice for effective protection against Covid 19, as is well known - one can work out how long it will take until the turn of the group of people who fall under the category "high Priority ”.

New vaccines

Of course: New vaccines such as those from Moderna or other companies, which are easier and easier to administer, store and transport, could accelerate the vaccination rate - as well as perhaps a second vaccination center in the district or other possibilities to expand capacities. But now the BRK and Johanniter employees are happy that the first weekend in the vaccination center went smoothly and without any incidents. The beginning has been made.
