This evening, the protests and sit-ins were renewed in a number of Lebanese regions, including Tripoli and Sidon, to demand better living conditions and combating corruption.

The Lebanese National News Agency stated that “the protesters deliberately closed the entrances to Al-Nour Square in the city of Tripoli with stones, obstacles and tires,” stressing the continuation of the popular movements that the city witnessed in the past two days.

The city of Sidon also witnessed similar protest sit-ins, despite the general mobilization measures against Corona.

Police patrols toured several neighborhoods and areas of Tripoli and asked residents and shopkeepers not to violate the general mobilization decision and to adhere to the specified opening and closing times to confront the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

The Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, had agreed a few days ago to impose a comprehensive closure in Lebanon, which came into effect last Thursday and continues until February 1, in the context of confronting the spread of the Corona epidemic in the country.
