Melanie Dörr from Icking was vaccinated against Corona on January 1st.

Also because of a colleague who is still suffering from the long-term effects today.

Icking / Munich

- Melanie Dörr (40), a nurse from Icking, has behind what most of the others still have in front of them: She is vaccinated against Corona.

On January 1, she was given the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine.

“It was like any other vaccination,” she says.

Only in the evening did her arm hurt a bit, which is normal.

“Otherwise I didn't notice anything.

No fever, no malaise, nothing at all. ”In this respect, she is not afraid of the second appointment on January 22nd.

"I assume that I will be protected afterwards."

In principle, she has no concerns about vaccinations.

"If there weren't any vaccines, half of humanity would be wiped out." In this particular case, she was a bit skeptical.

As an expert, the development went almost too fast.

“I found that unusual.” So she found out more information on the intranet of her clinic - the Third Order in the Munich district of Nymphenburg - and also from a colleague who had caught it in the first wave and who worked intensively on the subject.

The colleague still can't taste anything

This colleague was a warning to her about the long-term damage Corona can also cause.

“He is in his late twenties and was very healthy when he got infected,” says the mother of two.

"And now, almost a year later, he still doesn't manage to walk that long distance." The sense of taste has not returned yet either.

"It was relatively easy for me to decide whether to vaccinate or not."

There is currently a lot of talk that nurses in particular shy away from vaccination (see above).

Dörr cannot confirm this impression.

“There has never been anyone here who has not been vaccinated,” she says.

Of the several hundred cans that arrived in Nymphenburg on the evening of December 31, everything was inoculated.

"There is agreement among colleagues that vaccinations make sense."

In everyday clinical practice she has to deal with the problem often enough.

It regularly happens that corona patients have to undergo surgery because of symptoms that may be related to the disease, such as vascular problems.

The Ickingerin, as the operating room nurse, is there very closely.

"Of course nobody is involved," she says.

But protective measures are now also taking effect here.

For example, the air conditioning runs to enable air to be exchanged.

After all, everyone should stay healthy as possible.

In their opinion, vaccination can play a major role in this.
