Twitter's decision to delete Donald Trump's personal account has sparked heated debate.
Two camps stand out clearly.
On the one hand, those who welcome the fact that social networks are finally applying their rules towards the American president.
During the week, many voices, including that of Michelle Obama, called on these companies to cut the presidential microphone in view of the gravity of the situation.
"It is time for Silicon Valley to permanently ban this man from its platforms and put in place rules that prevent heads of state from using its technologies to incite insurgency"
, declared Friday the ex-first lady.
However, they do not forget to recall that Twitter and Facebook remain guilty of allowing extremist speech to flourish over the past four years.
An uncompromising moderation of hate speech and conspiracies from 2016 could perhaps have prevented the storming of the Capitol.
