The Syrian writer Rawaa Sonbol won first place in the Arab Authority Theater Prize in its thirteenth session in the adult theater category for her theatrical text “Naqiq”.
The announcement of the award came during a ceremony held by the authority at its headquarters in Sharjah, UAE, on the occasion of the Arab Theater Day, in which the tenth of January is celebrated each year.
Sonbol, who explained that this year’s session held under the title “Let the imagination go beyond stereotypes,” was dedicated to the soul of the late Syrian poet Riyad Al-Saleh Al-Hussein, who was present in her winning text, and to the female in his poem “The Woman Who Was Dancing Tango Under a Narrow Roof” and to all who live their lives Entire under narrow ceilings.
