WASHINGTON - US lawmakers have called on the administration of outgoing President Donald Trump to immediately reverse its action

Washington-SANA

US deputies called on the administration of outgoing President Donald Trump to immediately reverse its procedure of designating the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement a "terrorist organization", warning of the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen as a result of this decision.

AFP quoted Senator Chris Murphy, a prominent member of the Democratic Party, as saying in a tweet on Twitter that this classification is a death sentence for thousands of Yemenis because it will cut off humanitarian aid and make peace talks almost impossible, calling on US President-elect Joe Biden to cancel this policy on his first day.

In turn, Democratic Representative Gregory Meeks, Chairman of the House of Representatives’s Foreign Affairs Committee, said there will be no sustainable solution in Yemen unless Ansar Allah participates, noting that the Trump administration is pushing, by classifying the movement as a terrorist organization, the political solution to the crisis in Yemen is out of reach.

For his part, Republican Senator Todd Young, who does not agree with the outgoing president's policy on Yemen, said that this move would further destabilize Yemen and prevent aid groups from providing vital aid, adding that he looks forward to working with Biden and his team to cancel this misleading decision.
