The leader of the House of Representatives said Sunday that she will proceed with the process to prosecute the outgoing president on Monday, as expected, if her efforts to invoke the 25th Amendment fail.
He also called it "a threat to democracy" after the violent assault on the Capitol.
Pelosi made the announcement through a letter to her colleagues, in which she specified that the lower house will act solemnly but also urgently, just days after Trump leaves office on January 20.
"We will act urgently to protect our Constitution and our democracy because this president represents a threat to both," he
added.
