The barley cultivated areas in Sweida governorate during the current season and to date reached 18,800 hectares, with an implementation rate of 91 percent of the 20,771 hectares of crop cultivation plan.
The Assistant Director of Agriculture in Sweida, Eng. Alaa Shuhayeb, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent today that the areas planted with barley are so far more than good, especially with the continuation of cultivation operations during the coming days, indicating that it exceeds what was cultivated during the same period last year, which was about 11,135 hectares by 54. percent.
Engineer Shuhayb pointed out that the cultivation of barley in Sweida is rain-fed and depends on rainwater, and its cultivation is concentrated in a number of villages in the northern and southern countryside of the governorate.
As-Suwayda Governorate produced about 18 thousand tons of barley last season.
