The cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) has been postponed and a new date has not yet been set.
At the meeting, the ministers were supposed to vote on the permanent appointments of Chief of Staff Kobi Shabtai as police commissioner and of Gondar Katie Perry as commissioner of the Prisons Service, following the announcement by Blue and White chairman Bnei Gantz that he would support the appointments.
Ganz announced last week that he supports the appointment of Saturn as the permanent police commissioner immediately, after his party opposed it until further senior appointments were approved, including the appointment of a state attorney. Due to the controversy in the government, Saturn has meanwhile been appointed deputy police commissioner and Gondar Kati Perry has been appointed acting IPS commissioner.
"In the face of dozens of critical professional appointments to the State of Israel, including the State Attorney, who are stuck only because of Netanyahu's small politics - I choose to put Israel first," Gantz wrote on Twitter last week. "It is clear that Israel needs a permanent commissioner. I informed the prime minister tonight that I will support the immediate appointment of Chief of Staff Kobi Shabtai to the position of commissioner."

Ganz then added that "in the face of the complex enforcement tasks, and after two years in which he held the position admirably, Moti Cohen, it is a national need."
In all, the paralysis in the parity government has led to some 60 permanent appointments being delayed for political reasons.
On Friday, the government approved the appointment of Saturn and Perry as deputies for a six-month term and not as a permanent appointment, following a blue-and-white refusal to approve appointments in the government until appointments they request themselves are approved, including the appointment of a Likud state attorney.
In all, the paralysis in the parity government has led to some 60 permanent appointments being delayed for political reasons.
The appointments of Perry and Saturn have been raised in line with the recommendation of the senior appointments advisory committee that last week approved the appointments of the two.
The committee unanimously approved Perry's appointment, while Saturn's appointment was approved despite the chairman's reservations, retired judge Eliezer Goldberg, who believed that "it is not possible to say categorically that no defect was found in his chastity."
