From 'Scarlet Witch and Vision' to 'Foundation' and 'Dexter'. A look back at some of this year's most anticipated American titles

After 2020, a 2021 full of uncertainties is before us.

But there is a certainty: there will be dozens, hundreds of series.

Many series.

The pace does not seem like a pandemic is going to stop it, because so much platform needs gasoline to work.

To start the year, and in two installments, we review the most outstanding series that are expected in the next twelve months (if they will be released this year it is something that no one dares to assure).

They are just a small representation of everything to come.

We start with a review of the most anticipated international productions (American, actually) of 2021 and in a few days it will be the turn of the national series.

Scarlet Witch and Vision

On January 15, the first big premiere of the year arrives at Disney +, with the Marvel seal and the peculiar story of a superhero couple who lead an idyllic life in the style of classic sitcoms.

Succession

In the territory of comebacks, the HBO drama that won the Emmy in the last edition is perhaps the most anticipated.

Its third season had to be delayed due to the health crisis.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Another series that already has a release date on Disney +, on March 19, is this espionage and action adventure starring the companions of Captain America.

Schmigadoon!

Apple TV + musical comedy set in a small town whose residents behave as if they were living in a classic musical movie.

Clarice

The universe of "The Silence of the Lambs" is expanded with this series focused on Agent Starling months after the events narrated in the original story.

The series will follow the young woman in her pursuits of serial killers and sexual predators.

Of course, for rights reasons they will not be able to mention Hannibal Lecter.

Atlanta

Another expected return will be the debut of the third season (three years after the second) of Donald Glover's comedy on issues such as racial or cultural identity that received so much praise and recognition with its first installments.

Loki

For May the series is expected in which Tom Hiddleston will once again play Loki, Thor's brother.

Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw also feature in the cast.

Reunion of 'Friends'

It is not technically a series, but it is expected as such.

The reunion of the six protagonists of the iconic comedy had to be postponed due to the pandemic and should take place in 2021. It will be seen on HBO Max (in what HBO Spain will become this year).

Inventing Anna

The true story of Anna Delvey, a young Russian woman who led Manhattan socialites and several banks to believe that she was a wealthy German heiress, will be turned into a series produced by Shonda Rhimes and will be seen in 2021 on Netflix.

Boba Fett's book

In December (if there are no delays) will come the story centered on the bounty hunter Boba Fett whose official announcement came in the last scene of the second season of "The Mandalorian".

The maid's tale

Renewed for a fifth season, the fourth installment of the series will be seen this year to continue narrating the adventures of June, played by Elisabeth Moss.

The challenge for the series is to show that they are not stretching the gum at all.

The witcher

Another return in 2021 will be the adventures of the sorcerer that Henry Cavill embodies.

His filming suffered several delays due to the health crisis.

It seems that in the new chapters, Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer will be on the same timeline.

Ozark

The fourth season of the adventures of the Byrde family will be the last of the series, which will have 14 episodes to put an end to a series that has managed to accumulate many followers mainly through word of mouth.

Dexter

The return (which no one had asked for) of the serial killer played by Michael C. Hall is scheduled for this year.

There will be 10 chapters written by Clyde Phillips, the person in charge of the first four seasons.

Halston

Ewan McGregor stars as designer Roy Halston Frowick, one of the first international fashion superstars who dressed some of the most glamorous women of the 1970s and 1980s, in this five-part series produced by Ryan Murphy.

The Underground Railroad

Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) leads the adaptation of Colson Whitehead's novel of the same name (which won the Pulitzer) about a network of routes and secret shelters used by enslaved African Americans to escape to the free states and Canada.

It will be seen on Amazon Prime Video.

In Treatment

Uzo Aduba takes over from Gabriel Byrne as the protagonist of the series in which the viewer witnessed the sessions at the psychologist of several patients.

As in the previous version, Dr. Brooke Lawrence (Aduba) will also have to deal with her own problems.

Impeachment: American Crime Story

Although initially the plan was to have it released before the US elections, production was delayed and filming has not yet finished.

This season of the Ryan Murphy series will chronicle the political process against Bill Clinton.

Bel-Air

The new version, in dramatic mode, of "The Prince of Bel Air" has been commissioned for two seasons, the first of which is supposed to be seen this year.

Nine Perfect Strangers

Within the genre "new" Big Little Lies "will come this production based on a novel by Lianne Moriarty with David E. Kelley in the script and Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, Manny Jacinto and Samara Weaving in its cast.

American Horror Stories

Faced with the unique story of each season of American Horror Story, in this case there will be 16 different stories, one per episode.

Ryan Murphy and his regular cast of actors are part of the project.

Foundation

The plan for the two ambitious projects with which this list ended was that they would be released in 2021, but that was before the arrival of covid-19 in our lives.

In any case, Apple TV + is handling the television version of Isaac Asimov's novels.

Halo

Steven Spielberg is one of the producers of the live action series based on the popular video game whose project has been around Hollywood since 2013 and is already in the filming phase.
