The willingness of nurses to vaccinate is so far lower than hoped.
The word “mandatory vaccination” is being used more and more frequently.
Even Markus Söder no longer rules out compulsory vaccinations for caregivers.
Many
nurses
in
Bavaria
are annoyed about statements about mandatory vaccination.
The association of nurses wants to provide extensive information about vaccines.
A new vaccination center portal in Bavaria was activated on Monday.
Here you will find the current Corona case numbers in the
Free State
on a map *
.
Munich - Eva Ohlerth is a nurse.
But because she no longer works in a
retirement home
or
hospital
, but takes
care of
people who live at home, she is not among the first to be
vaccinated
against
Corona *
.
And she's actually really happy about that, she says.
Because like many of her colleagues, she is insecure.
“Because of the rapid approval of the vaccine,” says the woman from Unterschleißheim.
Not only with her, but also with many of her colleagues.
In many facilities, nurses are still hesitant about whether to get vaccinated.
Ohlerth talked to many colleagues about it - and can understand that.
"Some just want to watch for a while to see if there are side effects,"
she says.
The fear of possible side effects is greater for some nurses than the fear of Covid 19 disease.
She would like to use the time until her vaccination to find out more, she announces.
Coronavirus: Söder no longer excludes mandatory vaccination
Because significantly more nurses hesitate before vaccination than he expected, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) no longer rules out compulsory vaccination for nurses - at least if the Ethics Council recommends this (we reported).
This statement is anything but well received by the nursing staff.
"That is an absolute devaluation for us,"
says Ohlerth.
And the opposite of appreciation that many caregivers expect for their work compliments them.
“Many of my colleagues have been working double shifts for months, initially not even wearing adequate
protective clothing,
” she reports.
The fact that Söder is now threatening to have a compulsory vaccination testifies to little sensitivity.
"A better way would have been to talk to us - and to explain the vaccination and possible side effects better," she says.

Compulsory vaccination?
"That would be a massive encroachment on fundamental rights"
Georg Sigl-Lehner, President of the Association of Nurses in Bavaria, does not believe that there will be compulsory vaccination for nurses.
“That would be a massive encroachment on fundamental rights.”
But he too is surprised by the reluctance to vaccinate.
He explains this with the fact that many nurses are very exhausted - and also somewhat suspicious after the past nine months.
"Of course we would like it to be significantly higher."
Sigl-Lehner assumes that this will change by itself in the coming weeks.
It should already be noted that in many facilities the willingness to vaccinate is growing among employees.
“And we have to convince those who are still undecided instead of forcing them,” he emphasizes.
There should be more online information events.
Registration portal activated immediately
"During the first appointments, the demand was so great that our video capacity was not sufficient - we have now increased that significantly," he reports.
He advocates
giving nurses some time to inform
themselves and form an opinion.
“We need people who now lead the way and encourage others,” he says.
He wants to be one of them himself, a few days ago he received his first
corona vaccination
.
Some districts in Upper Bavaria have already vaccinated all senior citizens in the nursing homes and have now started operations in the vaccination centers.
The
Bavaria-wide registration portal www.impfzentren.bayern was also activated
on Monday
.
Anyone who lives in Bavaria can register there.
Personal data such as age, previous illnesses and occupation are requested in a questionnaire.
Vaccination appointments are from January 20th
Based on this data
, specific vaccination appointments
will then be assigned
from January 20
, announced Bavaria's Minister of Health Klaus Holetschek (CSU).
But first for those population groups that are exposed to an increased risk.
Only you should currently register.
If you do not have Internet access or do not want to use it, you can contact the regional vaccination centers by telephone or make an appointment on 116 117.
These hotlines should be relieved by the new portal.
