United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric warned that the United States ’decision to classify Ansar Allah movement in Yemen as a" terrorist organization "would cause serious humanitarian and political repercussions.
France Press quoted Dujarric as saying today: “We fear that the classification will have a negative impact on imports of foodstuffs and other basic commodities at a time when more Yemenis are dying of starvation,” expressing also the international organization’s fear of what he called a “harmful effect” on efforts aimed at resuming the political process in Yemen. And adding more polarization to the positions of the parties to the crisis.
Dujarric explained that Yemen obtains the bulk of its food through commercial imports, stressing that the growing threat of famine in Yemen requires the United States to quickly grant the licenses and exemptions necessary to ensure the continuation of humanitarian assistance to all who need it across the country without interruption.
The Saudi regime has continued its aggression against the Yemeni people since March 2015, leaving tens of thousands of victims and massive destruction of the country's infrastructure, in addition to the suffering of Yemenis from starvation and the spread of epidemics and diseases as a result of the suffocating siege imposed by the aggression forces on the country's ports.
