American national security adviser Robert O'Brien issued a statement on January 11, which mentioned that the Hong Kong police arrested more than 50 pro-democracy activists and that China did not respond to the origin of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).
He said that the United States is studying further ways to deal with it.

53 members of the pro-democracy camp were arrested on the 6th on suspicion of violating Article 22 of the "Minato National Security Law" "subversion of state power.

O'Brien pointed out that the world cannot continue to pay a heavy price for China's irresponsible and harmful actions.
He said: "Just as China ignores the international obligations under the Sino-British Joint Declaration, it continues to ignore the International Health Regulations."
