Flame inferno in Taufkirchen: with a happy ending.

No people were injured - but the damage to property is great.

Taufkirchen

- Everything went very quickly.

After an emergency call to the fire brigade at 5:22 p.m., they immediately moved out on Sunday.

But in the Taufkirchen district of Potzham, in the Bergstrasse / Hochstrasse area, the barn of an agricultural property was “in full fire” just a few minutes later, according to a press release from the Munich district fire inspection.

With their quick action, the fire brigade prevented worse, the property damage is nevertheless considerable and is estimated at 1.5 million euros.

Four people were rescued from the neighboring house in good time, but two firefighters suffered minor burns during the operation.

“It was a rare occurrence.

A very big fire, ”reports Michael Huber, commander of the Taufkirchen volunteer fire brigade, who led the large-scale operation.

He quickly recognized that the size of the fire would ultimately require a large contingent.

A total of 226 emergency services took care of six and a half hours to bring the fire under control until the official end of the mission at 11:52 p.m.

In addition to the people of Taufkirchen, I was helped by the Brunnthal, Unterhaching, Oberhaching, Ottobrunn and Grünwald fire brigades, as well as the district's ABC train and the support group of the local operations management;

also police and rescue services as well as energy suppliers to illuminate the scene.

"By intervening quickly, we were able to keep the adjacent house free of damage and save the residents," reports Jochen Schendel, press spokesman for the Taufkirchen fire brigade.

Because a residential building is directly adjacent to the barn - its four residents could be brought to safety without being injured.

Because it was impossible to enter the burning barn in this inferno, the firefighters concentrated their extinguishing work on the directly attached house and on the surrounding buildings.

Eight fire engines and three turntable ladders were used.

As a precaution, several gas bottles were recovered from a nearby building.

The spread of the fire to the house could be prevented by the massive fire fighting.

The barn, however, largely burned down;

According to information from the Taufkirchen fire brigade commander Michael Huber, a few tools and tractors remained halfway undamaged within the foundation walls.

Initial investigations indicate a technical defect as the cause of the fire.

Until 3 a.m., the Taufkirchen fire brigade checked the scene of the fire several times to see if any embers were hidden.

Everything is okay, the follow-up checks showed - the clean-up work is now underway.
