Almost up to a week after Heilig-Drei-König the Christmas tree was on the roundabout in Agatharied.

The mayor explains why the fir tree lasted so long.

Hausham -

The Christmas trees had already disappeared from many living rooms, but at the roundabout on Oberen Tiefenbachstrasse in Agatharied, Christmas nostalgics got their money's worth until the beginning of this week.

The proud fir tree that the building yard had set up there still spread a Christmas spirit even after Heilig-Drei-König.

And that although the Advent decorations from the community had already been removed.

We asked Mayor Jens Zangenfeind whether the tree was just forgotten or whether it deliberately adorned the entrance to the industrial park for a longer period of time.

Mr. Zangenfeind, why did Christmas last longer in Agatharied than in the rest of the Hausham community?

Jens Zangenfeind:

(laughs) We are quite flexible and have done it like some private individuals: As long as the tree does not need to needles, it can stay.

Apparently we got a particularly cheerful specimen from the community forest on the Huberspitz for the roundabout on Obere Tiefenbachstrasse.

Maybe it was because of the wind and weather, which was good for him.

And so we immediately tested whether the anchoring designed for the Christmas tree is stable enough.

On top of that, the fir tree was a beautiful winter decoration even after Christmas.

And strictly speaking, we were still moving around the church.

It means that Christmas does not end until Candlemas on February 2nd.

Keyword decoration: Are there any plans for what should happen to the island after winter?

Jens Zangenfeind:

The road construction authority will take care of it for the first two years.

According to the horticultural companies commissioned with it, it all has to grow up slowly.

Only then is the planting sustainable and well-rooted.

Actually like our Christmas tree.

It would soon have taken root in the top.

How do you feel in the Zangenfeind house?

Is the Christmas tree still there?

Jens Zangenfeind:

No.

He had to go to Holy Three Kings from the living room.

Otherwise the vacuum cleaner would have choked on the needles.

He will be picked up by the fire brigade in mid-January.

Like every year, it sells tokens at a price of 2.50 euros per tree.

The fir from the roundabout was picked up on Tuesday.

Did you also buy a stamp from the fire department for this?

Jens Zangenfeind:

The fire brigade would certainly have liked to dispose of the tree.

In an emergency they would have asked their comrades from Miesbach with the turntable ladder for help.

Our building yard did not want to let this honorable task be missed.
