Sheldon Adelson was a Jew who loved his people and country dearly.
He was a good-hearted and loyal friend, and I am very saddened by his passing.
It also hurts to think of the hardship going on for Miri, his wife, who cared so much for him - and for his loving family.
The consolation of all of us now is that his deeds will be recorded in the chronicles of the eternal Jewish people.
Although Sheldon Adelson was not a observant Jew, his deeds worthy of the good of the state and the people were for heaven's sake.
I remember at one of our meetings he saw on his phone that his company stock had gone up.
He told me with a smile, "Listen, I just made $ 150 million," but then he immediately added, "And every penny will go for my people."

Few know how much Sheldon Adelson and his wife worked for the security of the State of Israel, for the integrity of the Land of Israel and for the continued existence of the Jewish chain of generations.
These sound like "big" words, but it's the truth.
Everyone knows his contribution to projects such as "Birthright", to the Israeli Academy and to Ariel University in Samaria and the Faculty of Medicine, which we were privileged to fight for and establish, and many other projects.
All of these are just the visible part.
He did much more in secret from the eye.
Adelson worked hard to move the American embassy to Jerusalem, even when there were hesitant Israeli leaders.
In doing so, in effect, this precious philanthropist broke the glass ceiling of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.
He has held countless talks and meetings with everyone he can, to get out of the bad nuclear deal signed with Iran, and has worked for American recognition of the Golan Heights - and many more mysterious actions.
Dear Sheldon, you're up there already.
Rest in peace, and know that we will continue with the help of God to preserve the country and the people you loved so much.
