The center-right party allied with the government wants to force the French to be tested. He is worried about insufficiently controlled borders.

Members of the Agir-Ensemble group urge the government to take stricter measures against the Covid-19 epidemic.

While the extension of the state of health emergency will be examined on February 2 in the National Assembly, the center-right component of the presidential majority wishes to debate several proposals.

First the tests.

If several massive campaigns have been carried out at the initiative of the government, the Agir-Ensemble group wants to make the test compulsory in communities where the circulation of the virus is active.

“If we really want to fight the virus, this screening must be done by 100% of the population.

Otherwise it makes no sense, ”

claims Olivier Becht, the group's president.

He explains:

“Today we have the capacity to track down the virus.

We know how to do this in wastewater, almost quarter by quarter.

Testing cannot be done on a voluntary basis.

If there is only one person in six who comes to be tested it is of no use "

.

In his view, an entire district or city should be tested when the prevalence rate is high.

"Leaving the borders open is a problem"

Olivier Becht believes that it is then appropriate to strengthen the isolation of people tested positive or case-contact, as he had already proposed in November.

The government had not accepted the idea of a fine for offenders.

Faced with the circulation of the British variant, the Agir deputies are calling for a turn of the screw at the country's borders.

"We must strengthen border controls with quarantine for people who enter, in addition to a negative PCR test to be produced"

, insists Olivier Becht while a simple test is now required, but not always verified

.

"Leaving the borders open is a problem," he

annoys.

Adding:

"If we want to put in place a policy that aims to eradicate the virus from the national territory, we must close the borders more hermetically"

"We must be better on the triptych test-trace-isolate"

, summarizes Olivier Becht who notes that

"it will take several months before the vaccine really produces its effects and truly breaks the transmission of this virus"

.

In the meantime,

"we must put in place more dynamic tools that make it possible to avoid confinement, deconfinement, re-containment and the curfew which are very harsh measures for our fellow citizens who still block a large part of the economy"

, argues the elected representative of Haut-Rhin.

He prefers

"the measures taken in Asia where the virus is fought in a more effective way"

and asks the government to lead

"a guerrilla street by street to eradicate the virus"

.

"Measures acceptable to the population"

Olivier Becht believes that his proposals

"are acceptable to the population"

and that they

"are less liberticidal than those we currently have with the curfew or the re-containment where many fundamental freedoms are violated"

.

The Agir-Ensemble deputies are also impatient with the slow start of the vaccination campaign.

"Vulnerable people under 50, who number 2 million in France, wonder about not being able to get vaccinated quickly enough and not being taken into account as a priority for the moment"

, s 'worries the deputy Agnès Firmin Le Bodo, close to the former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.
