Apple apparently wants to enter the car market in the medium term.
This is causing concern among the established manufacturers.
But car expert Prof. Dudenhöffer is skeptical of the iPhone manufacturer's plans.
For
years there have been rumors surrounding
Apple
about a possible entry into the car market.
But now the
iPhone
manufacturer could get serious.
Top dogs like
VW
or
BMW
are concerned about the development.

Munich - The car expert Prof.
Ferdinand Dudenhöffer
has
denied
Apple
the ability to develop its own car.
Apple
has "zero competence in the car", Dudenhöffer told Merkur.de.
The iPhone manufacturer could “certainly deliver good software or work with car manufacturers on joint software solutions for cars”.
But an independent
Apple
car remains “a myth” that appears just as reliably in times of poor news as reports about the alleged Loch Ness monster, said the head of the Duisburg CAR Institute.
On the stock exchange, speculation about a possible Apple Car recently caused violent price reactions.
It was not until Friday (January 8) that rumors about a possible collaboration between
Apple
and Hyundai caused a sensation worldwide and drove the share of the South Korean car manufacturer up by almost 20 percent.
Apple car: will the apple car be on the market in 2024?
Shortly before Christmas, the US news agency Reuters, citing insiders, reported that
Apple was
targeting the introduction of an autonomous passenger vehicle in 2024.
The group has achieved a breakthrough in battery technology.
The company then relies on battery cells in a monocell design.
The battery cells would be reinforced and the available space increased.
In addition,
Apple is
examining
the use of lithium iron phosphate technology.
LFP batteries are less sensitive to heat than conventional lithium-ion batteries, the report said.

Dudenhöffer views the reports with great skepticism.
An
Apple
car is “not very realistic,” he said.
Apple
lacks the necessary know-how.
He could not imagine that
Apple has
“more on it” than
Tesla
or other manufacturers
when it comes to topics such as chassis, efficient electric drives or the next generation of batteries
, said Dudenhöffer.
Cooperation in sub-areas is certainly possible.
This applies, for example, to collaboration on software projects such as
Waymo
.
The
subsidiary is attracting manufacturers to develop automated driving.
Apple Car: Speculation about joining a large car manufacturer
Dudenhöffer also considers speculation about possible acquisitions of the billion-dollar tech giant to be unlikely.
A possible entry into a large manufacturer like
Daimler
would hardly meet with approval from financial investors.
“A lot of money would be burned”.
In addition, such a step should
cause a setback
at
Apple
, said the auto expert.
With a stock market valuation of around 1822 billion euros, the company from
Cupertino is
worth a good ten times as much as the German car
manufacturers BMW
,
Daimler
and
VW
combined.
In view of the immense financial power, this causes discomfort for many manufacturers.
“The unbelievable rating and the practically unlimited access to resources deserve great respect from us,” VW boss Herbert Diess
said in an interview with Bloomberg
at the end of December with a view to
Apple
or
Tesla
.
