Iran is demanding the extradition of the snapback mechanism from the nuclear deal if talks with the superpowers are resumed, said senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
"This mechanism, which is an illogical clause, should be repealed if there are further negotiations," Ali Akbar and Viliati said in an interview published on Khamenei's official website.
"In the first place, the supreme leader was not satisfied with the issue of the operating mechanism and it was done against his will."
Under the 2015 nuclear deal, Iran has reduced its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of US and international sanctions.
The deal included a mechanism for the automatic reversal of UN sanctions if Iran breached the agreement, which required Tehran to suspend all activities difficult to nuclear enrichment and reprocessing, including research.

Iran has rejected all calls by the West to expand the agreement on the issue of its missile program and operations in the region, since US President Donald Trump resigned in 2018 and re-imposed sanctions.
Despite the desire of President-elect Joe Biden to renew diplomacy with Iran, the IAEA chairman warned yesterday that there were only a few weeks left to renew the agreement as Tehran began enriching uranium to higher levels and threatened to expel UN inspectors next month.
