The chapel cannot go into the Jakob-Pfeiffer-Haus

The fees for the Jakob-Pfeiffer-Haus in Schongau will be moderately adjusted.

This was recently decided by the city council.

However, it is obviously not easy for all clubs to rent the premises.

The town band, for example, can sing a song about it.

Even Mayor Falk Sluyterman has already intervened.

Schongau

- It should be a slight increase in the user fee - the city of Schongau and pastor Norbert Marxer have now signed a correspondingly modified user agreement for the Catholic Church Foundation Mariae Himmelfahrt.

For example, the minimum rent in summer for the large hall is now 90 euros instead of 80 euros, and the rent for the whole day has been increased by 20 euros to 220 euros.

In the winter months the prices are, as before, a little higher because of the heating costs.

There are also other flat rates, e.g. for cleaning.

For many users there are no costs

The contract also stipulates that the cost bearers, i.e. the city, the church and their organizations, may use the premises free of charge.

There are also no costs for municipal and church childcare facilities or local schools under municipal sponsorship.

However, Bettina Buresch (Greens) criticized the fact that the Jakob-Pfeiffer-Haus was only available to a limited extent for the city chapel, "this is handled very restrictively," Buresch criticized towards the church.

"I don't think that's very nice, I would like the town band to be more accommodating."

Schongau world "not that easy"

Mayor Falk Sluyterman was already familiar with the problem: "The Schongau world is not that easy to explain," he paraphrased, and the church also has its guidelines.

"Pastor Marxer's hands are tied," reported Sluyterman of his attempt to mediate on this point.

Especially since not only the town band, but also other Schongau associations such as the Schongau carnival society and the guard girls are affected.

“It's not that easy, you just have to say,” is how Marcus Graf, director of the Schongau music school and former director of the town band, describes the problem.

Usually the ensemble rehearses with over 70 musicians in their own rehearsal room in the Köhlerstadel.

Of course, this is not possible under corona conditions.

After the first lockdown, the Ballenhaus was therefore allowed to be used.

“That was great, almost 60 musicians were able to rehearse, including the stage, that was excellent at that time,” Graf thanked the city once again for its kindness.

First in the Ballenhaus, but then without a rehearsal location

After the Ballenhaus was open to the public again after the summer, was used for weddings or even for city council meetings, the city band looked for an alternative.

"We asked the Jakob-Pfeiffer-Haus, but we weren't allowed to," said Graf.

Far from ideal for the town band: “I know of many who haven't rehearsed since the beginning of November.” Chapels in other places would of course have similar difficulties, but Graf cannot understand why the largest hall in town is not released.

Pastors are tied

Especially since, according to the latest studies, a very large distance has to be kept, especially with the flutes - up to three meters to the front.

At least ten musicians play this instrument in the Schongau town band.

Graf cannot fully understand the attitude of the church, especially since the town band also makes music for the parish in part.

However, this does not seem to play a role, and the Festive Summer choir was not allowed to rehearse, according to Graf.

Mayor Sluyterman promised at the meeting that they would sit down in January or "as soon as they can see the horizon again" to find a solution.

Schongau's pastor, Norbert Marxer, cannot understand the excitement.

Most recently, no one had rehearsed in the Jakob-Pfeiffer-Haus, not even the church choir, he made clear on request and referred to the diocese's hygiene concept.

You have to stick to the requirements.

The mayor presented that, so Marxer.
