Donald Trump is still convinced of his border wall with Mexico.

A few days before the end of his term in office, the elected US president presented his efforts to build the wall as a great success story.

"I kept my promises," said Trump on a visit to the wall in Alamo, on the border with Mexico.

The building of the wall was a "great achievement".

In the areas where the wall was built, the number of illegal border crossings had fallen rapidly.

His government ended the "immigration chaos" and restored the sovereignty of the United States.

The future government shouldn't even think about tearing down the wall again, he warned.

The building of the wall on the border with Mexico was one of the central promises of Trump before his election as president.

The US Department of Homeland Security announced in early January that the 450-mile border fortifications were ready.

Trump described this as a great success on Tuesday.

In most cases, however, Trump's border wall only replaced existing and outdated border installations.

Originally, Trump had set far greater goals when building the wall: In the past, he had spoken of a significantly longer distance of around 1,100 to 1,450 kilometers.

Trump is not afraid of impeachment

Trump used his appearance in the Alamo to express his confidence in a possible impeachment.

Measures now taken against him would fall back on them, Trump said.

"The 25th Amendment is zero risk to me, but it will come back and haunt Joe Biden and the Biden government." He added, "Be careful what you want."

On the basis of the 25th Amendment, the Vice President of the United States can declare the president with a majority of key cabinet members incapable of continuing the office of president.

After Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, the Democrats have put pressure on Vice President Mike Pence to remove Trump from office before the end of his presidency next week.

At the same time, the Democrats in the US House of Representatives are pushing ahead with the opening of a second impeachment trial against Trump for "inciting riot".

Trump said: "The impeachment fraud is a continuation of the largest and most vicious witch hunt in our country's history, causing enormous anger and division and pain, far greater than most people will ever understand, which is particularly dangerous for the United States in this very world sensitive time.
