The "New Hong Kong Cultural Association", a Canadian organization that assists Hong Kong people in exile, stated on January 12 that the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) has successively granted refugee status to 14 Hong Kong people in exile starting from the end of 2020.
The organization stated on the social media Facebook on the 12th that after 14 refugee statuses were granted, Canada has become the country that has granted the most political asylum to Hong Kong people involved in the anti-revision movement in 2019.
The New Hong Kong Cultural Association posted a document on Facebook on January 12, stating that 14 Hong Kong exiles have been granted refugee status by the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Commission.

The "New Hong Kong Cultural Association" refers to the organization that has assisted more than 40 Hong Kong people in exile since 2019. Nearly 30 of them have received help in Canada. Most of them have obtained "street paper" and work permits, and 14 After obtaining political refugee status, a Hong Kong citizen is currently applying for permanent residency.
The organization quoted IRB figures that as of June 2020, a total of 49 Hong Kong residents had applied for political asylum in Canada.
According to the organization, applicants can enjoy local medical, work and school permits while waiting for the refugee application hearing, and can also apply for road assistance.
The association also stated that in response to the deteriorating situation in Hong Kong, the Canadian government has launched the "Young Talents Program" for Hong Kong youth. The details will be announced in the next one or two months.
