The United States House of Representatives voted tonight (Wednesday) in favor of the second impeachment trial of US President Donald Trump.

During the debates, six Republican lawmakers, including Liz Cheney, daughter of Dick Cheney, Vice President George W. Bush, announced that they would support the move.

The decision was made by a majority of opposing opponents.

The vote is seen as "symbolic" in light of the fact that Vice President Mike Pence has announced that he will avoid running the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution and removing the president from office.

Trump became the first president in history to be ousted twice.

Next the decision passes to the Senate for approval, where Republicans have a majority, which will likely result in the decision being overturned. In the Senate, fears are growing that Trump will lose support for his party, and even Republican leader Mitch McConnell is reportedly considering supporting a conviction when the trial opens. Democrats do not currently need a two-thirds conviction.
