This question is crucial to anticipate the possible evolution of the epidemic in the coming weeks.
On Wednesday morning, the President of the Scientific Council, Jean-François Delfraissy, indicated on Franceinfo that there were
“about 1,000 cases in France”
of people infected with the English mutant out of 100,000 tests carried out.
The day before, before the Senate Social Affairs Committee, Olivier Véran, the Minister of Health, also estimated that
"nearly 1% of the variant of English origin"
is found among the results of positive PCR tests in France.
These are the preliminary results of the "Flash survey", launched on December 8 by Public Health France and coordinated by Professor Bruno Lina, virologist at the CHU de Lyon.
