The former boss of Renault is temporarily replacing the post occupied by Olivier Duhamel, who resigned after his indictment for incest.

The shock wave caused by the accusations of rape of minors against the political scientist Olivier Duhamel caused new turmoil on Wednesday, while the former Renault boss Louis Schweitzer was provisionally elected in his place at the head of the National Foundation of political science (FNSP).

At the start of the day, the prefect of Ile-de-France Marc Guillaume announced that he was leaving the FNSP saying he was

“betrayed”

after having seen Olivier Duhamel

“for years”

.

He also said

"absolutely condemn these acts".

A few hours later, it was the turn of the former Minister of Justice Elisabeth Guigou to inform AFP that she was giving up chairing the independent commission on incest.

For a few days, the former socialist minister was cited among the relatives of Mr. Duhamel, accused of having raped his stepson.

"The current climate does not allow me to lead this mission with the necessary serenity

,

"

said Ms. Guigou in a written statement.

In parallel to these developments, the board of directors of the FNSP, which is responsible for the major strategic directions and the administrative and financial management of Sciences Po, elected Louis Schweitzer, 78, as interim president.

Mr. Schweitzer was elected

"with 22 votes for and one blank vote"

, at the same time as the economist Jean-Paul Fitoussi

"to the functions of vice-chairman of the board"

, announced Sciences Po in a press release.

Louis Schweitzer, on the other hand, clarified that he

"does not plan to be a candidate for the permanent presidency".

The institution put forward its objective of

"pursuing and carrying a renewed ambition to fight against gender-based and sexual violence, in conjunction with Frédéric Mion, director of Sciences Po and administrator of the FNSP".

Sciences Po thus shows its support for the director, who admitted to having been alerted in 2019 and targeted by numerous calls for resignation.

In an open letter published Wednesday evening on the site of

Liberation

, more than 500 students, professors and employees of Sciences Po have again requested his departure

"following his management of accusations of sexual assault and incestuous rape against Olivier Duhamel"

and call for gatherings

“January 18 and 25” in

front of Sciences Po.

Monday, Laurence Parisot, the former president of Medef and member of the board of directors of the FNSP leaned for the establishment of an ethics charter or a code of ethics

"which limit the risks as much as possible"

.

However, she refused to ask for the resignation of Frédéric Mion.

"We must not confuse the story of Olivier Duhamel and the story of Frédéric Mion, we are not in the same category of faults,"

she told Mediapart.
