A preliminary investigation for "illegal taking of interests" targets the Minister of Overseas Overseas Sébastien Lecornu for his past activities as head of the Eure department, the National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) told AFP on Wednesday, confirming information from the Canard enchaîné and Liberation.

This investigation was opened in March 2019 on charges of "illegal taking of interests" and "failure to report to the High Authority for the Transparency of Public Life".
It was entrusted to the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Fiscal Offenses (OCLCIFF).
