program

aimed at students from universities and

community colleges

The program will benefit 17 educational centers with important

guest speakers

to share their knowledge and mentoring on their real-world journalism experiences, and will also collaborate on content development with teachers and provide equipment. technological.

In addition, NBCU Academy will create and deliver educational content to help inform, inspire, and empower newcomers and seasoned journalists who want to keep up-to-date on changes in this fast-moving industry.

Among the academic partners of this program are Miami Dade University and Florida International University;

El Camino College in Torrence, California;

California State University, and Dallas College.

NBCU Academy was born from the foundations of NBC University, which NBC News launched almost a decade ago as a training program for young journalism professionals who are part of various associations such as the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, among many others.

Comcast NBCUniversal announced last June a $ 100 million multi-year commitment to combat

 systemic racism and inequality

.

NBCU Academy is part of that commitment.

NBCU News Group also announced the 50% Challenge Initiative in July, an action plan for at least half of NBCU News Group employees to be women and people of color.
