The eighth conference of the DPRK concluded its work after eight days of discussions, during which new economic and political plans were approved.
In the closing speech of the conference, the DPRK President and Party Secretary-General Kim Jong Un emphasized that the country needs to do everything in its power to build the strongest military capabilities, calling for strengthening and strengthening these capabilities.
President Kim said that "by accelerating efforts to make our army more elitist and strong, we need to be fully prepared so that this army can perform its mission and role against any form of threats and unexpected situations."
He referred to the new five-year plan for national economic development, pledging to organize economic projects focusing on metallurgy and chemistry industries, calling for efforts to implement this plan that was drawn up during the conference.
He added, "We need an urgent solution to economic problems," noting that "the matter is not limited to strengthening the national economic strength, but rather it is important to strengthen economic processes and leadership to reasonably use economic power in order to achieve an increase in the production capacity of steel and chemical products."
DPRK President Kim Jong Un was unanimously elected yesterday as Secretary-General of the Korean Labor Party.
The Eighth Conference, which opened on the 5th of this month, is the second longest conference after the Fifth Conference, which was held for 12 days in 1970.
During the opening of the conference, President Kim stressed the necessity of adopting major strategic plans to achieve further progress and the advancement of the country, referring to the remarkable success achieved by the Labor Party and the DPRK in various fields over the past years.
