The administration of Saint George Hospital in Lebanon announced today that the Minister of Health in the caretaker government has been infected with the Coronavirus, despite strict measures taken by the Lebanese authorities throughout the country.
The Lebanese National Agency quoted a statement issued by the hospital administration as saying that the Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Dr. Hamad Hassan, was infected with the Coronavirus and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. The statement reassured that the health status of Minister Hassan was good.
And the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced earlier today that 4,988 new cases of coronavirus and 35 deaths resulted from it were recorded, in the highest death rate since the virus spread last February.
Lebanon will enter, starting from dawn tomorrow, a state of health emergency that will continue until the 25th of the same month, which includes prohibiting exit to the roads and closing all administrations and public institutions, universities, schools, nurseries, docks and sports stadiums.
